Biatain Fiber is a soft and sterile primary wound dressing composed of non-woven sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) fibers, bi-component (BiCo) fibers and a heat-sealed mesh reinforcing structure.

When the dressing is applied to a wound and exposed to wound exudates, the CMC fibers in the dressing absorb them and form a gel. The gel dressing retains exudates and conforms to the wound bed to promote healing in a moist environment. The latter promotes wound healing and facilitates the elimination of non-viable tissue (autolytic debridement).

Accumulation of wound exudate can occur when the Exudate is not managed effectively or when the wound bed is not covered with an absorbent dressing, increasing the risk of bacterial overgrowth and infection. Unmanaged exudate can also leak onto wound edges and periwound skin, which can cause maceration and delay healing.

HexaLock technology gives Biatain Fiber the strength necessary to manage exudate, reducing the risk of maceration and infection.

Biatain Fiber is indicated for acute and chronic wounds such as ulcers diabetics, leg ulcers (arterial ulcers, venous ulcers and leg ulcers of mixed etiology), pressure ulcers (stages II to IV), absorption of exudate in oncology wounds, traumatic wounds , partial thickness burns, donor sites and post-operative wounds.
